George Taylor was born in Croydon, Victoria, on 14 July 1898, and was a Jackeroo when he joined the AFC in Grafton, NSW, on 27 November 1917; there are other enlistment forms from The Show Ground Camp in Sydney and from North Sydney, all near the same date. Curiously, he had two wounds from .22 bullets in his left shoulder! He was sent to Laverton for training before embarking on SS Zealandic on 5 October 1918. In December he was posted to France to join No 2 Sqn. In late January 1919 he reported sick with influenza, and was taken to hospital.
He died from influenza at No 39 Stationary Hospital on 11 February 1919.
AMII G L Taylor is buried in Grave I D 7 at Lille Southern Cemetery, France.
