Rich, Air Mechanic Class I Malverne Brentnall (1285)
Malverne Rich came from Prahran, Victoria, and was a 32 year old Telegraphist when he joined the AFC in Melbourne on 21 October 1916. He left Melbourne on HMAT A67 Orsova on 6 December. After arrival in the UK he was posted to No 29 (Australian) Training Sqn RFC, which be came No 7 Training Sqn AFC in January 1918. In July he was transferred to the AFC Details at AIF Headquarters in London, before proceeding to No 1 Aircraft Depot in France, from where he was attached to No 3 Sqn. On 30 September he was wounded in the leg while with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade, probably to receive wireless messages from squadron aircraft, and taken to No 12 Casualty Clearing Station.
He died from wounds at No 12 CCS on 1 October 1918.
AMI M B Rich is buried in Grave V H 41 at Tincourt New British Cemetery, France.
