Frederick Moore came from Melbourne, and was a Mechanical Engineer aged 25 when he joined the AFC in Melbourne on 29 February 1916. He departed Australia on RMS Malwa on 25 July
1916. After arrival in Egypt, he served in No 67 (Australian) Sqn RFC/No 1 Sqn AFC, as well as the RAF School of Armaments, and was promoted to Sergeant by October 1918. In January 1919 he was Mentioned in Despatches for his work during the Palestine Campaign.
He left Egypt to return to Australia on HMAT A17 Port Sydney on 3 March 1919, arriving on 17 April. His discharge from the AIF, to take effect from 26 May, was being processed when he became fatally ill.
He died from influenza in Melbourne on 2 May 1919.
Sgt F P Moore is buried in Grave CE ZA 1997 (GRM/3*) at Brighton General Cemetery.
