McGuffie, Air Mechanic Class II Roy Nelson Victor (3261)

Roy McGuffie was born in Hobart on 12 December 1887, and was a Lighthouse Keeper when he enlisted in the AIF in Townsville, Queensland, on 15 January 1918. In March he joined the AFC, and was posted to Laverton for technical training before leaving Sydney on RMS Osterley on 8 May. On arrival in England he was posted to No 7 Training Squadron at Leighterton, where he served for the remainder of the War. In early February 1919 he became ill with influenza, and was admitted to the AFC Hospital at Tetbury.
He died of pneumonia on 19 February 1919.
AMII R N V McGuffie is buried in Leighterton Church Cemetery, Gloucestershire, England.
