Dunn, Second Lieutenant Robert Alexander

No 8 Training Sqn AFC

Robert Dunn came from Numurkah, Victoria, and was a Managing Clerk aged 23 when he joined the Field Artillery in Melbourne on 26 March 1917.

In September he transferred to the AFC at Laverton and, after flying training, he departed from Melbourne as a Second Lieutenant on HMAT A71 Nestor on 28 February 1918. After arrival in the UK he was posted to No 8 Training Sqn AFC at Leighterton in June for advanced training.

He was killed in an aircraft accident at Leighterton on 13 August 1918 when flying Avro 504 D7788 with Capt R W Mackenzie, who was injured.

2Lt R A Dunn is buried at Leighterton Church Cemetery, Gloucestershire, England.
