Cubbins, Air Mechanic Class I Lindsay Gordon (2494)

Lindsay Cubbins came from St Kilda, Victoria and worked as a Motor Trimmer before joining the AFC as an Air Mechanic Class II in Melbourne on 29 October 1917, when he was 20. He departed from Melbourne on HMAT A1 Indarra on 26 November and, after a short stopover in Egypt, was posted to the AFC’s Aircraft Engineering Depot at Wendover when he arrived in England before moving to the Aircraft Repair Section at Leighterton in March, where he was promoted to Air Mechanic Class I in May.
He was admitted to Tetbury Cottage Hospital on 8 August 1918 and died there from appendicitis on 14 August.
AMI L G Cubbins is buried in Leighterton Church Cemetery, Gloucestershire, England.
