Arthur Cooper was born in Brighton, England and was 29 years old and working as a Plumber when he joined the 5thField Company of the Australian Engineers at Melbourne on 26 July 1915. He departed from Melbourne on HMAT A40 Ceramic on 23 November 1915. After a period at No 1 School of Military Aeronautics at Reading in December 1916, he formally transferred to the AFC in June 1917 and was trained as an aircraft rigger. Promotion to AMI took place in early October 1918, but he became ill with influenza and was admitted to hospital on 23 October.

He died at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Bristol on 28 October 1918.

AMI A W Weston is buried in Grave 39272 at Brighton (Estramural) Cemetery, Sussex, England.
